Patreon Update [April]

Patreon Update

Hello backers and fans of Source Gaming. I wanted to give an update on some of the things we are working on, and what to expect from us.

First, we had a couple of big projects debut this month. Mega Smash Poll: Post Smash DLC, Sakurai on Balance and The Definitive List of Unused Fighters in Smash (update) all came out this month. Special shout out to Soma who was instrumental in helping with the later two articles! Next month, we will be analyzing the data from the Mega Smash Poll, and provide more insights to the community. We have a big project we are working on right now, but I’m afraid it’s a bit too early to announce it. Keep your eyes peeled!

In June, Source Gaming will be going to E3! SmashChu and Spazzy_D will fly out to get the news, straight from the source. We need some help getting there. If you can help us out, check out our GoFundMe page.

As for myself, I’m learning how to make videos right now. Sakurai on Balance was the first video I made in After Effects. My goal with the videos is to expand the audience of Source Gaming. Daily we get 2,000-3,000 readers but the actual normal article readership (if it’s not a translation, or an in depth article) is much lower than that. However, I think there’s a lot of value in having the sources. Also, I enjoy articles over videos. Because of that, I’m going to personally focus on videos based on articles. Nantendo is also working on a video, and he will release the script to that video along with the it. So for fans of the format — don’t worry. We will still be sourcing our stuff (it’s in our name after all!). We are also testing out “discussion” videos. Let us know what you think — your feedback is very important to us!

From April 25th – May 10th, I will be on traveling for Golden Week (before Golden Week starts, I need to finish some projects for my actual work). Coincidentally during that break, I’ll be visiting the birthplace of Smash, Yamanashi Prefecture. While I’m gone, Nantendo, Soma and Spazzy will be ensuring the site operates smoothly. I look forward to coming back fully charged and ready for E3! Feel free to contact me with any questions at anytime.
