One of the prime examples for everyone that we can rise back from the ashes. Outside of Japan we first met Marth and Roy in Melee. And in Brawl we got Ike but lost Roy. Then in Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U things got interesting, we got Lucina and Robin at launch then via DLC Roy came back and Corrin left us in awe, watching this little franchise outnumbering Zelda. Meanwhile, some people think that cut characters will be easy, because you can just drop the “Marth Clones”, because “there are too much anime swordsmen”. But hey, having a sword isn’t an archetype. Anyways, dropping some of the actual characters might help to show that in Fire Emblem there are other interesting weapons.
This looks like an easy option, at least easier than the Pokémon one. For this one I just cut the “clones”, keeping the characters with original movesets, even though they can be cut as well. But let’s see what could happen with the one fastest growing Nintendo franchises.
Roy: If he comes back, he needs to be different, and become even stronger. He could be able to set his sword on fire to maximize the output of damage and burn his rivals, but this might burn him as well, so it will become a double edged fire sword.
Lucina: She won’t need to pose as Marth anymore, having a balanced moveset that accommodates to her falchion and the use of other weapons, like bows and lances, with some new swift moves to restore her own personality.
Anna: As a merchant, she has a lot of weapons to her disposition, making her a character with tools for every occasion, like swords, lances, spears, bows, staffs and tomes. And with her playful personality she might become the soul of the battlefield.
Tiki: Just with a Dragonstone she could destroy an entire army, getting the magical side of the dragon transformation, unlike Corrin. Being able to transform momentarily to fly, attacking with the magic triangle: Ice , Fire and Lightning.
Lyn: As one of the fastest assist trophies she might become one of the fastest sword users in the game. And among all the swords, we don’t have any katanas yet, so she might fill that role, also she might have her bow to catch any fugitive foe.
Hector: The strong general, with his axe, Wolf Beil can cut through any army, and with a lance could improve his reach. He might have command grabs that pin his rivals prior to send them fly with a powerful blow. And don’t expect run away safely, he could throw Wolf Beil and that will hurt.
Chrom: He did have his chance to be here before, but just as a summon. Now he could use the eponymous Fire Emblem shield along the Falchion to become a strong character with hard defenses.
Ephraim: His lance could give him great range at the expense of strength besides the sweet spot. However it could also be a good defensive tool, being capable of stop projectiles and keep foes for reaching him. He could use the help of his sister, Eirika, in his Final Smash. And who knows, he might even bring a horse to a fist fight.
New Lord: The same as a new Pokémon, the possibilities are infinite, and his or her chances are super high, even if we don’t have any idea what kind of character it might be. And that’s the best of this kind of exercises, they are as fun as wrong might be =P.
But not every franchise needs knights in shining armors and an unlimited supply of monsters, so, come back tomorrow to keep exploring the rest of the possibilities. I hope you had a good time reading all of this.
Until next time!
