News Flash! Super Smash Bros. Dojo: Samus

Hello! We are working very hard on translating the Melee website. We decided to ramp up our translation focus on the character introduction pages in order to give everyone a better picture of Melee, and its character.

All comments were originally written by Sakurai himself. You can see Sakurai’s individual picture comments by hovering your mouse over the image.  Originally pictures were given their own page, but for the sake of brevity I combined them. The original page can be accessed here.

Samus:
Updated: July 10th, 2001

The bounty hunter, Samus Aran.
In the end, the only game she appeared in on the samus_pinupNintendo 64 was Smash…
But, the quality this time around is very different.

For her new special move “Missile,” by adjusting the analog input of the stick, you can choose between firing weaker homing missiles, or missiles that are stronger but only travel in a straight line.

(Maybe I should make the stronger missiles “Super Missiles”…?)

What do you think of the Samus’s moves in the images below? Isn’t it just like Metroid?

  1. Oh, Sakurai. You confuse me sometimes.

    During the 2014 development cycle:

(Maybe I should make the custom stronger bombs… “Power Bombs”? Nah. Generic bigger “Mega Bombs” it is.)
